Biography & Research Interest:
Celso Pesce is a Professor of Mechanical Sciences at Escola Politécnica, the University of São Paulo and a researcher of the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq). He is the director and founder (1994) of the Offshore Mechanics Laboratory and leads projects supported by CNPq, FINEP, FAPESP, PETROBRAS, SHELL, SBM, Bureau Veritas, Prysmian Surflex, Repsol, BG E&P, and the Brazilian Navy. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan (1999-2000) and an invited lecturer at CISM. International Centre for Mechanical Sciences, Udine, Italy (2012). Some of his research interests are fundamentals of analytical mechanics, floating systems dynamics, energy harvesting from flow-induced vibrations (FIV) phenomena, risers nonlinear dynamics, and experimental methods in FIV and structural mechanics.
