“Research in Healthcare Settings: A cautionary tale”

Dr. Mah completed his medical degree at the University of Alberta and his residency in Family Medicine at McGill. Before beginning a career as an Emergency Physician he was a family doctor with a varied practice including obstetrics, palliative care, home care, and locums in Northern Quebec. After ten years in the ED at the Montreal General Hospital, he became the Chief of the Emergency Department at St. Mary’s Hospital Centre and since 2016, has been the Chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine for the Montreal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Service Centre which includes the emergency departments of St. Mary’s Hospital Centre, Lakeshore General Hospital, and Lasalle Hospital.

 

His research interests include ED overcrowding, ED operations, and quality improvement. Dr. Mah will give a talk focusing on the opportunities and the challenges related to conducting research in the healthcare setting.
